The season has finally got under way as the river has now reached a fishable height thanks to the cold weather. Several people were at Holt today, and one hardy sole who was wrapped up in enough clothes for an Arctic Expedition, on the Island side at Diglis. The water was clear but still about a foot on the wall. It will still be a while before Tewkesbury is anything like. Personally ,I would strongly advise anyone not to fish there as the EA have totally ruined the place, which is a great shame as it was once back in the day one of the best salmon fisheries in the country.
The river is slowly dropping, it went down about 2ft at Diglis yesterday. Only another 10ft to go! It wil probably just be OK when Keith is back from Malta!

River Severn now well over 3m above level on the Worcester gauge. Put the rods away for another couple of weeks!
